Permanent staff

Massimo Tiepolo

Full professor

massimo.tiepolo@unimi.it

Amphibole geochemistry is my mantra

Federico Farina

Associate professor

federico.farina@unimi.it

My scientific interests focus on the general theme of the generation and evolution of granitic magmas in Earth’s crust and, by extension, on the mechanisms that control the formation of the continental crust.

Francesca Forni

Associate professor

francesca.forni@unimi.it

My research focuses on the study of the processes that control the genesis and evolution of the magma bodies that fed large silicic eruptions, combining field observations with geochemical, geochronological and isotopic data

Enrico Cannaò

Researcher (RTD-b)

enrico.cannao@unimi.it

I’m studying recycling processes in subduction zone settings, with natural and experimental approaches, combining microstructures with geochemical and isotopic information

Technical staff

Gianluca Sessa

Technician

gianluca.sessa@unimi.it

I’m the technician in charge of the Laboratory of Geochemistry, Geochronology and Isotope Geology. Other tasks include supervising the preparation of samples for laser ablation analysis and field assistance for sampling of materials of geological interest.

Elena Ferrari

Technician

elena.ferrari@unimi.it

I have the responsibility of the daily organization of the chemistry laboratory, supervision of samples preparation and analyses using chromatographic techniques, atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and stable isotopes mass spectrometry (C-O)

Post-docs and PhD students

Marco Filippi

Post-doc

marco.filippi@unimi.it

My research project investigates the thermal and compositional evolution of the deep crust affected by extensional tectonics. My broader interest lies in migmatitic terrains, with field experience in the Alps and the Variscides.

Federica Langone

PhD student

federica.langone@unimi.it

My PhD project focuses on the volcanological and geochemical study of large caldera eruptions located in the Main Ethiopian Rift, aimed to understand the storage and evolution mechanisms of these particular magmas

Alessandro De Leo

PhD student

alessandro.deleo@unimi.it

My main research project has the aim to study the petrogenesis of LCT pegmatites, with a particular focus on those that constitute Li ore deposits, using the tools of element and isotope geochemistry, and geochronology. In parallel, I direct my interest to analytical geochemistry research.

Hamza Waheed

PhD student

hamza.waheed@unimi.it

The aim of my research project is to prepare urban geochemical maps of the city of Milano (Italy) and Swabi (Pakistan) for various contaminants including heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) & polychlorinated biphenyl’s (PCBs) along with their possible sources of contamination

Current visitors

Mamadou Ndiaye

Geology, chemical composition and ore potential of the Saraya granite (Senegal)

Former PhD students

Angelica Mosconi

My PhD project was focused on the geochemistry and geochronology of the Corno Alto granitoids (Adamello batholith, Italy)

Lorenzo Magnani

My PhD project was focused on the geochemistry and geochronology of the LCT-bearing pegmatites from the Adamello batholith
